This post is dedicated to Duane who reminds (buggs) me to write in my blog every time I see him.

I haven't written for a while, and I think I've finally figured out why: I didn't want to talk about Little One (our parakeet) dying. So, I wont. Even now, the thought is still too painful.

I told you in an earlier post that I have high-frequency hearing loss. First of all, I think it's getting worse. Second, I'm now a subsitute teacher and I'm finding it hard to hear the kids. Third, I told my ASL teacher, Minne Mae, that I have hearing loss and now she had a new-found respect for me. She's deaf, but I still don't see why my being partially deaf should all of a sudden make me a "better person". Anyway, right now, I can't stop thinking about the possibility that I could go deaf. Really, I'm fighting near panic every moment. I haven't been able to sleep very well because of it.

We have a new parakeet! It is very, very small. It's feathers are violet and it's wingtips are white. We don't know if it's a boy or a girl yet, it's still too young to tell. So far, it's been too scared to do much, but today, it showed signs of improvement. This morning, it chirped to the birds outside. Later, it stretched, preened, ate, and chirped some more. We are all very excited. We've named it Tonks (Harry Potter character). It's so nice to have a bird in the corner and not an empty cage.

School is fine. Laura and I commute to school, which takes a lot of time, but we listen to Bowie or Harry Potter and the time goes faster. My ASL class is a complete waste of time. All I've done so far is learn more vocabulary. Considering the class was supposed to be teaching me how to tell stories in ASL, this class is much less than I expected. Science Fiction is okay. I'm not into Sci-Fi very much, but there is a little bit of Fantasy that makes it worth taking. I love British Lit before 1800. The teacher is wonderful! Health is boring and pointless.
