Confessions of a Little Twin
Friday, December 12, 2008

For those of you who don't know yet, last Saturday, I had a little accident at work. I was helping clean a theatre and a tray accidentally made forceful contact with my face. Enough to break both my glasses and my nose. I'm doing ok, but I am in some pain. We're also trying to get workman's comp to cover my glasses, since as of right now, I'm wearing my old pair that are 3 prescriptions old and so can't really see or drive. Somewhat inconvenient, wouldn't you say? I'm getting through it, though, and that's saying something anyway.

Ok, Pat, here you go! I'm finally updating. Really, there's so much to say that I honestly don't know where to start.

I guess I'll start with work. It's been crazy at work this year. It started in May and continued until..well...yesterday, actually. From now on it's going to be slow until Thanksgiving. On May 2, Iron Man came out and that was a crazy weekend. That movie was going strong in the theatre until The Dark Knight came out on July 18. Boy was that movie insane. We had 16 of our 17 theatres showing The Dark Knight (the 17th was showing Mama Mia!), and all of those theatres was sold out. All of this on a seriously short staff. Luckily, we have amazing people in the Usher department, and it all went in so smoothly, we were amazed. Even our Theatre Manager commented on how well it went, which is amazing in and of itself.

Aside from the movies this summer, we had people leaving us that we wish hadn't. Seth, for instance, got a new job and tried to stay on part time. Unfortunately, they cut his pay and demoted him to team lead and so, he wasn't exactly happy right from the beginning. His last day was July 4th. I miss him terribly. Also, one of our 16 year old ushers found out that she has Leukemia and we lost her rather quickly. She's doing fine, but she can't work right now. We all can't wait until we get her back. My favorite person at work is having health problems and couldn't work as well. Our ushers were dropping like flies. Now we have some new people and some transfers from other departments and we're doing ok, but we miss those people we've lost.

Sarah, Emily, and I went to Disneyland at the end of April. That was FUN, and I think I'll be forever craving the waffles at the Carnation Cafe inside Disneyland. Good stuff. Excellent stuff, actually. I highly recommend it. We had a blast and that let us know that we get along well enough to go on more vacations together. That being said, we went to the Shakespearean Festival. My parents came too, and it was amazing. My favorite by far was Cyrano De Bergerac. Brian Vaughn was absolutely amazing in the title role. I loved it so much that last Wed, we dragged Laura down for a day trip. Emily, Sarah, Laura, and I had a great time. I enjoyed the ride home so much that even though I was tired, I didn't want it to end. It was awesome.

So, for Halloween this year, I'm going to be Rose Tyler from Doctor Who. I'm almost done assembling the costume. I'm doing her outfit from "Turn Left", "Stolen Earth", and "Journey's End". All I need to find is a blue leather jacket and I'm done! No one will know who I am, but I don't care. I'm just excited. I'll be great.

Not much else is going on. I'm not in school right now, but I plan on taking a few Independent Study classes so I can graduate. I'll be going back to UVU next spring to take the classes I need to there.

Well, there's an update. I'll try to be better at posting, but I'm not promising anything. I'll do my best however. There you go, Pat!

So, since my last post, I've made some life-altering decisions. So, here they are:

I withdrew from school. It was just too hard to cope this semester. With Full-time work, I just wasn't able to get everything done for school. I was facing midterms and I realized that I had no idea what was on the test and that it would take a week to get caught up. So, I'm out of school. I'm so happy! I actually have time to do things again. It makes me so happy.

I've also changed my major. I'm no longer a Deaf Studies Major. I'm an English Major with a Deaf Studies Minor. It would have taken me 12 years to get the Deaf Studies major, and so I'm going with the English major so that I can get through school in good time. I'm very sad about having to give up my Deaf Studies major because I've been waiting for it for 5 or so years, and I'm sad that I'm not going to be able to get it.

I also broke up with my boyfriend. It was incredibly hard to do, and I hope that I'll never have to do it again.

But, now I have a life and I'm enjoying the freedom. Although, I did work for 7 days straight, and so now I'm exhausted. My body still hasn't adjusted to daylight savings time, so I'm not getting to bed in good time and I have to get up early. With that and work, I'm very tired.

Anyway, there's your update on my life for now.

Ok. so it's been an extremely long time since I've posted, and I apologize. Life has been so crazy lately that I've hardly had time to breathe let alone do anything else.

I'm now a full-time Team Lead at work (Yay for getting Team Lead!) and part-time at school. It's been crazy, but I enjoy my job and my classes are good. They take up a lot of time, though and I'm super behind on homework. It does worry me because I have midterms coming up, and I don't feel prepared at all.

On top of all that I'm dating a guy named Stewart. No he's not the guy from the last post. That ship has sailed. Stewart is a good guy, but he wants to spend more time with me than I can give him right now. It's frustrating him, but I think he'll live.

I've officially become a knitter! Yay! I got a knitting bag for Christmas and now I bought my own knitting needles from KnitPicks. I'm extremely excited about it all. I love knitting and I'm glad that I'm getting better at it. I just finished a cabled scarf and I'm starting on my first felted bag that we're making for our Disneyland trip.

That's right, Disneyland! Sarah, Em and I are going as soon as my finals are over. I'm so, so excited! I need the change of scene so bad! Hurray for getting away for a week!

Well I need to go clean my room and get a few more things done. Then I'm going down to Laura's to spend the night. I'm so happy!

It's been a while and I have a little bit of time, so I thought I'd write.

I have now been to see Hairspray 6 times. Seriously, if you haven't seen it, go and see it. It's an amazing show and I totally recommend it.

So, I like a guy. I won't give huge amounts of details, in case he stumbles across this, but I really like him. He's tall, and he has dark hair, and he's very cute. I don't know if he likes me or not, but I'm hopeful. I'm trying hard to be patient, but it's hard when we flirt like mad.

Anyway, school started, and I like my classes so far. I have Doctrine and Covenants, Deaf Culture Studies, Critical Literature, and Fantasy. I like all my teachers, and I think it'll be a good semester. Well, here's hoping anyway.

There is a new Team Lead position open at work. My interview is on Friday at 4. I really, really want it this time. I've never wanted it more. I think I have a really good chance this time, and so I'm not too worried.

Football season has started again! YAY!! I LOVE football. Especially BYU football. Seriously, I become a wild person at games. It's fun. I've waited all summer for the football season, and I'm so glad it's finally here!

There's a lot more to say, but I don't want to go into details. You see, it's about the guy I like and if he stumbles across this, it'd be embarrassing. If you want to know the details, email me and I'll be happy to fill you in.

I had the most amazing time in California!!! First of all, we drove to Las Vegas and hung out there for a while. We went to the Cheesecake Factory, which was fabulous, and looked around Vegas for a while. I just have to say, that wasn't the most pleasant experience of my life. We were all glad to get out of Vegas. Anyway, we drove to Anaheim the next day. We checked into the Carousel Inn, which is an awesome place to stay! We then walked over to Disneyland to get our tickets at Will-Call. After that, we went to the beach for a while. When we got back, we ordered pizza and played games. The next day, we went to Disneyland with a stop at the Blue Bayou (the restaurant at the Pirates ride). It was fabulous, and I'll be going there every time I go to Disneyland. It was fun! We then stayed up most of the night making posters for the next day. Some of them included "Johnny Utah Loves You!", and "Sparrow For President!" At around 2:00 am, we went and got in line so we could get a good spot on the Red Carpet. We had about 150 people in front of us, which isn't too bad considering by the time we were done, we had about 4,000 people in back of us. We stayed in that line until 5:00 am, when they let us into the lines for entrance into the park. At 6:30 am, we were let into the park. We got lucky and got the front row right next to the red carpet. There we waited until about 5:30 that night. The stars had started to arrive. It's impossible to tell you who we saw, since I don't know half of their names, so I'll just tell you who we saw from the Pirates movies. The first person we saw was Gibbs. He looked so different, I almost didn't recognize him. Then, Norrington came by, and signed my autograph book! In no particular order, here are the rest that we saw... Tia Dalma (the weird witch lady), Barbossa with Jack the monkey, Governor Swann, Marty the dwarf, and Pintel (the pirate who says 'Ello Poppet). Toward the very end, Orlando Bloom ran past us, and so we thought that Johnny wouldn't be too far away. (incidentally, Keira wasn't there). About 20 minutes later, Johnny Depp came around the corner. He stopped right in front of us and gave us a chance to get pictures. HE WAS GORGEOUS!!!!! I still can't believe that I saw him. He was amazing, and I totally freaked out! Oh, I guess I do know some of them that I saw other than the pirates stars. I saw Hiro from Heroes, Martin Landau, Coby Bryant, Keith Richards, and many more.

ETA: We also saw the guy who plays Lord Cutler Beckett. He really is that short in real life.

I guess it's time to post again. I just got home from New York, and now I'm going to California on Wed. However, I'm so excited, the total exhaustion is being kept at bay. Yep, we're going to the Pirates 3 premier, like I said in my last post. It's finally here, and I'm so excited, I can hardly hold it in. I mean, I'm actually going to see Johnny Depp, my favorite actor!! Chow Yun-Fat is going to be there as well, which I'm excited about since he's another one of my favorite actors. I'm seriously freaking out!

On a sad note, I have a sore throat, and I hope it will be better by the time the premier occurs. We leave Wed. morning at 6:30, and I just want to feel, and look, my best.

I need to go and buy my Disneyland tickets now. I'll write when I get back and tell you how it went!
